Risk is inherent to any outdoor adventure. The safety talk at the beginning of a rafting trip is a very important preparation for a safe and fun experience. This is good stuff – “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” – it does not have to be boring though. John McDermott, head river honcho has given hundreds of safety talks in his 25 year guiding career and he knows a thing or two about how to capture his audience and how to convey the river’s friendliness and how much he loves it.
Listen well…you might get a few pointers applicable to any outdoor situation and feel empowered by that knowledge.
At River Dancers fun, excitement and camaraderie are our game. Good safety practices, enthusiasm and practiced spirits of adventure always carry the day.
